Exercise 02
This exercise covers demonstration of irregular successions. As discussed this involves pushing an active step against its preferred direction of resolution by approaching it from the opposite direction.
For example the 7th Scale Step may be forced downwards by approaching it from the step above (8) even though it should naturally resolve upwards, (8 -> 7 -> 6)
Notes:
The irregular movement should be preceded by the next scale step, i.e. 1 -> 7 and not 2 -> 7
When using irregular movement take into account the direction that the ’new’ step has been reached from and resolve it accordingly, i.e. Step 6 resolves downwards and this tendency is reinforced when approaching from above, so would expect 8 -> 7 -> 6 -> 5
